Sunnyvale: Suspect identified, sought in fatal home shooting

SUNNYVALE — Investigators have identified a suspect in a fatal home shooting last week and are seeking the public’s help with locating him, authorities said.

Jesus Aguilera, 44, of Sunnyvale, is being sought by authorities in connection with a fatal shooting May 29, 2025 at a home on South Wolfe Road. (Sunnyvale Dept. of Public Safety) 

The shooting was reported Thursday around 7:40 p.m. at a residence in the 900 block of South Wolfe Road, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. Responding officers arrived to find a 40-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He died at the scene; his name has not been publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

At the time of the shooting, police would only say that the victim and shooter knew each other. Monday, the department announced that investigators have identified Jesus Aguilera, 44, of Sunnyvale, as their primary shooting suspect.

Aguilera was described by police as a Latino man standing 5-foot-11, weighing 190 pounds, with brown eyes and a bald head. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous, and that anyone who sees him should call 911 and not try to contact or approach him.
