Police said last year that the victim, 18-year-old Angel Enciso Ayala, was driving in a vehicle down the 27000 block of Pompano Avenue in Hayward when the suspects passed him in their own vehicle. At the exact moment the two cars passed each other, Ramos allegedly opened fire, striking Enciso Ayala in the neck. He crashed his car on Havana Avenue a short distance away.

Police believe Ramos was the shooter, while Pimentil is being charged as an aider and abettor, court records show.

Ramos has also been charged with gun possession. Police say that a bluetooth device belonging to Pimentil was hooked up to Ramos’ vehicle during the time of the shooting.

Pimentil has a 2019 conviction for second-degree robbery in Alameda County, court records show. While still on parole last year, police investigated him for a potential parole violation based on an Instagram post on another person’s account showing him brandishing a revolver. He was never charged, but during the investigation police determined that he was a member of a Hayward-based gang, authorities said.
