
SAN JOSE — A driver was arrested after hitting two pedestrians south of downtown early Friday, leaving one of the victims seriously injured, according to San Jose police.

The collision was reported at 2:46 a.m. near West Virginia Street and Almaden Avenue, police said. One of the people hit was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The driver fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later,” police said.
Additional details, including the circumstances of the crash, were not immediately released Friday morning. Police said surrounding streets were closed for a traffic investigation.
