The collision was reported at 6:47 a.m. on Senter Road near Sylvandale Avenue, police said. The victim died at the scene.

Additional details, including whether any other vehicles were involved, were not immediately released. Police said the traffic investigation prompted the closure of both directions of Senter Road between Sylvandale and Hellyer avenues, and eastbound Sylvandale Avenue between Senter Road and Verdi Lane.

The crash marks the 10th traffic death of the year in San Jose, and the first to involve a motorcyclist, according to data compiled by this news organization.

The person killed will be named publicly by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office once their identity is confirmed and their next of kin is notified.
