DANVILLE — A San Ramon woman was arrested on human trafficking charges after another woman tipped off police here that her husband had received “illegal services” at a brothel, court records show.
The 45-year-old woman was arrested April 10 on suspicion of human trafficking, but she was later released from jail. No charges have been filed against her, court records show.
Police say the woman owns massage parlors on B Street in Hayward and on the 900 block of San Ramon Valley Road in Danville. In late February, police in Danville received a tip from a woman who claimed that the Danville parlor was “hiding” employees from China who’d overstayed their work visas, and that her husband received “illegal services” there.
Investigators, in turn, conducted an undercover operation where they sent an officer to pose as a customer at the business. Police say the undercover officer was able to verify that prostitution services were offered. Finally, police put a tracking device on the woman’s Lexus, showing her travel to both the Danville and Hayward establishments, authorities said.
The woman was served with an arrest warrant in Danville and booked on $150,000 bail, but released after charges weren’t filed, court records show. Police say the Hayward parlor was unregistered, in violation of a local ordinance.
