SJFD, Cal Fire halt brushfire near Guadalupe Landfill

Crews from the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire have mostly contained a brushfire near the Guadalupe Landfill that grew to approximately 15 acres.

Crews battling 50-acre brush fire near Brentwood

An incident report issued by Cal Fire did not report any damage to structures or injuries.

Firefighters responded to the scene on Guadalupe Mines Road in Almaden Valley, just after 3 p.m., when the fire began to spread at a moderate speed.

With the assistance of Cal Fire planes dropping water and retardant, fire department officials reported halting the forward progress by 5:08 p.m.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., officials reported 70% containment of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
