The carjacking and gunfire began early Sunday in Vacaville, but it did not end well for two suspects spotted and arrested 25 minutes later in Fairfield, with one suspect wounded after pointing his firearm at a police officer.
According to a Fairfield Police Department social media post, a city’s Flock camera, or license plate-reading technology, alerted officers at 5 a.m. to a vehicle involved in a possible carjacking in Vacaville.

The suspects reportedly were armed, and, according to a Vacaville Police Department social media post, had fired approximately eight rounds at a victim in the 800 block of Beelard Avenue. The victim was not struck but “self-transported to the hospital for an injury to his face” related to the carjacking, police said.
Following several additional Flock “hits,” Fairfield officers located the carjacked vehicle within their city limits, in the area of Dover and East Tabor avenues.
Two men got out of the vehicle “and were engaged by a Fairfield police officer,” according to the post’s wording. Upon contact, one man ran, while the other continued walking.
The officer issued commands to the remaining man, who was armed with a handgun, police said, adding that the man ignored the commands and pointed his gun at the officer. The officer responded and fired at the man, who sustained at least one gunshot wound.
Officers provided medical aid at the scene, and the man was transported to a local hospital. He is expected to survive. No officers were injured.
The second man was apprehended by officers and a K-9 officer.
The Solano County Officer-Involved Incident Protocol Team responded and took control of the investigation, according to the department social media post.
Fairfield police officials said press inquiries regarding the carjacking, gunfire, arrests and the ongoing investigation were to be directed to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office.
