Detectives opened an investigation last fall after learning about an “inappropriate conversation” between a student and a staff member at the school, located in the 1700 block of South White Road, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release Tuesday.

The employee, identified as 44-year-old Castroville resident Jorge Palacios, was on leave at the time, Hernandez said.

Palacios was previously employed for about a year as a parent community involvement specialist at the school and for about four years with the East Side Union High School District.

Detectives identified multiple victims and witnesses who had alleged similar incidents involving Palacios at the school, Hernandez said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On April 28, Palacios surrendered at the police department and was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges related to annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18.

Hernandez said detectives believe there may be additional victims.
