The crime was reported around 12:40 p.m. on May 2 in a residence on the 3000 block of 26th Street, near Garfield Square Park. A man with a gunshot wound was found in the home; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, May 7, a 21-year-old San Francisco man was taken into custody in Novato and arrested on suspicion of the murder.

The victim’s name was not released.

San Francisco recorded three homicides in five days in the first week of May, police said.
