Pease earned a bachelor’s of fine arts in metalsmithing and started working water-based media in the early 1990s, showing her watercolors around the country. Now a silk painter, Pease teaches workshops and has exhibited her work at the Silk Painters International biannual international festival.

An artist, architect and industrial designer, Mohanty is rediscovering and reinterpreting the Hindu epic poem “Ramayana,” which tells the story of Rama, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, and his journey to defeat the demon king Ravana and rescue his wife Sita. She is compiling her 75-plus paintings based on stories from the ancient Indian text into a coffee table book.

They and other South Bay artists will open their work spaces on Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. To see an interactive map of artist locations and view a gallery of the participating artists, visit at https://svos.org.
