
OAKLAND — One man was killed and another man was wounded in a Dimond district shooting early Thursday, authorities said.
Initial reports were that both men were 49-years-old but their names have not been released. Police have not said where they lived or if they knew each other.

The shooting, which activated a gunshot detection system alert, happened about 12:42 a.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
Police found one of the men at the scene. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The other man, who was wounded more than once, got his own transportation to a hospital, authorities said. His condition was not available.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting or announced any arrests.
Investigators have not yet said if the men were shot by someone on the street or by someone in a passing vehicle.
The killing is the 29th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated the same number of homicides.
