The Bay Area’s new WNBA team, the Golden State Valkyries, will hit the court for the first time tonight at 7 p.m. PT against the Los Angeles Sparks in preseason action at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The expansion Valkyries are in the process of building their “competitive and connected” team culture during training camp as they prepare for the regular season, which kicks off in a week and a half.
Third-round draftee Kaitlyn Chen, who worked with famed Bay Area shooting coach Doc Scheppler, will look to make a strong first impression. Chen is the only WNBA draft pick who will be on the court as the Valkyries have not brought first-rounder Justė Jocytė over from Europe, and waived second-rounder Shyanne Sellers in a surprise move over the weekend.
