
SAN JOSE — A person of interest was detained in connection with a stabbing Monday in unincorporated San Jose after an hours-long standoff, authorities said.

The stabbing was reported just before 3:40 p.m. on South Bascom Avenue, near Elliott Street, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived to find a man suffering from an apparent stab wound.
The victim was taken to an area hospital. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
Around 6:15 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced a person of interest had been detained in connection with the stabbing.
“There is no threat to public safety,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.
