REDWOOD CITY — Authorities on Wednesday night arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of stabbing two family members.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Main Street, according to the Redwood City Police Department. Officers arrived to find one victim with stab wounds to his chest and a second with a cut to his arm.

An investigation determined the incident primarily involved two brothers. A third family member was injured while intervening.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital. Police said the first victim remains in critical condition.

Police identified the stabbing suspect as Redwood City resident Jonathan Manuel Riveracastro. He was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.

The case is still under investigation, police said, adding that “at this time, it appears to be an isolated incident confined to a single apartment unit involving family members.”
