Suspect arrested in $12,000 San Leandro burglary

SAN LEANDRO — Police here have arrested a suspect in a $12,000 home burglary, and are investigating him for possible involvement in an AutoZone break-in, court records show.

The suspect, a 19-year-old Oakland man, was arrested and charged with burglary and two counts of possessing guns, court records show. Police identified him as the man who broke into a Castle Street home on March 18 and stole cash, a Rolex watch and a Louis Vuitton wallet worth a total of $12,000, records show.

On April 2, police tracked the man to an AutoZone in Oakland and arrested him there after a short foot chase, authorities said. During the arrest the detectives found a gun that had been reported stolen in a separate San Leandro incident, according to court records.

The man was released from jail by Judge John Allen on April 4, but ordered not to possess guns, court records show. He is next due in court on April 30.
